If your child is sitting for long periods in a poor posture, it can place additional strain on the joints, ligaments and muscles. This could lead to them experiencing discomfort, most likely neck or back pain. Poor posture can also become habitual and you may find your child is sitting in a slumped position at the dinner table, at school, or even stooping when standing.

What can you do?

  • Try and limit the time they spend on digital devices.
  • When using a device try and encourage them to sit up straight, rather than lying on their bed or couch.
  • Encourage them to take regular exercise breaks, in order to get their joints moving and to reduce the risk of eye strain.
