Sports massage therapy focuses on the manipulation, management, and rehabilitation of the body’s soft tissues; muscles, tendons, ligaments and skin. It’s designed to correct problems and imbalances caused by physical activity, daily life, or repetitive strain.
While it’s a great tool for athletes, you don’t need to be sporty to benefit. Sports massage can help relieve everyday tension, fatigue, and tightness, leaving you feeling looser, more relaxed, and better prepared to prevent future aches and pains.
Sports massage may help to:
Improve circulation and lymphatic flow
Remove metabolic waste from muscles
Calm or stimulate nerve activity
Increase or decrease muscle tone or length
Mentally prepare for sports competitions
Regular maintenance to keep muscles healthy
Injury prevention
Injury treatment and recovery
Pre-event preparation
Post-event recovery

Your initial session lasts about one hour. We’ll start by discussing your concerns, medical history, and lifestyle so we can tailor the massage to your needs.
Your therapist will assess the area causing discomfort—which may be different from where you feel symptoms—and may ask you to do simple movements to check mobility. In some cases, you may need to remove certain clothing for effective treatment, but your comfort is always our priority. You can pause the session at any time or have a friend/relative present.
Once assessed, your therapist will choose the most appropriate soft tissue techniques to help you reach your goals.
Sports massage can range from gentle to firm, depending on your needs, pain tolerance, and the techniques used. Your therapist will check in with you regularly and adjust pressure if needed.
It’s normal to feel a little sore for 24–48 hours after your massage—similar to post-workout stiffness. Your therapist will explain what to expect and how to manage any after-effects. If you’re concerned, please contact us—we’d always prefer to hear from you.
